Vader is my little dark horse and she comes to Ehana from Shareen of Caleebra Lapphunds.
I had made contact before Ryker had even come into our lives and told Shareen that I would *eventually* be looking for another puppy.
Fast forward the beginning of 2016 when our dear friend Leah, who was driving from Sydney down to Victoria to visit her beloved Alleria and puppies, offered to give me a lift. I’m so glad I accepted as when I laid eyes on Vader it was love at first sight. We cuddled for hours and she seemed so content to just stay in my arms, I was truly smitten.
I (rather impatiently) awaited the assessment results for the pups hoping and crossing everything that little Vader might be coming home to me so when I finally got the phone call from Shareen, I shed a few tears of happiness!
Vader is solid black with a tiny little tuft of white fur on her chest with tan spectacles and toes, though the older she gets, the more tan she seems to develp! She is a very well put together girl, right in the middle of the height standard with some lovely angulation, a gorgeous sweet expression, nice movement and a coat I just can’t help but marvel over. She is a little pocket rocket, always pushing the boundaries trying to see what she can get away with but then making up for it by giving kisses and nuzzling her way in for a cuddle. She is incredibly intelligent and knows how to work the system, if she doesn’t want to do something she won’t and will make a point of telling you how much she doesn’t want to.
Vader loves her food, any and all of it which makes it very easy to get her motivated and switched on. She has such a happy go lucky personality and even though some of what I say might fall on deaf ears, she just loves to please and be involved in whatever I'm doing.
She's truly my heart dog and we often have people marvel over our little bond.
She made (and continues to make) her mark in the show ring around Australia taking out a number of BOB’s in her youth against much older competition. In an attempt to show up her brother Ryker, Vader earned herself the honor of being named not only the 2016 Finnish Lapphund Club of NSW Opposite Show Dog of the Year but also walked away with the FLCNSW 2016 Best New Talent award, a well deserved win for my little black beauty.
Vader gained her Australian Championship title on the 12th June 2017 with an amazing 17 point best of breed win!
In 2020 she also became the first Lappie in the world to earn the title of triple crown champion through Do More With Your Dog, requiring her to earn a champion level title across the 3 sports they offer, Tricks, Conditioning Work and Stunt Dog.
She's competed and dabbled in various sports from herding to lure coursing, rally to tricks, pack dog to more recently scent work. Shes the dog I can take anywhere and she regularly travels around Australia with me for family trips to qld or sporting events or just a camping trip. She is the dog people often comment from photos that they don't want because of her colour, then after they meet her they want one exactly like her. Her life has been full and we hope to continue our adventures long into the future.
At the age of 9 now, she still attends public events to help showcase our breed, she still holds her own in the show ring winning a number of best of breeds in the last year (2024) as well as winning Aus bred in show and veteran in show at our 2024 lappie specialty. She has my heart and always will, her story has been told on TV and she shares partnerships with various companies. She has been the most amazing foundation girl you could ever ask for and words cannot describe how amazing she has been as a mother.
She is a joy to watch grow every day and I'm blessed to share my life with her.
