Detective Slash Genius Litter
On the morning of the 27th March 2023, with a gentle nudge to my face at 6am, we welcomed Vader's final litter to the world. Desperate for a little girl so we could finally have own own mini Vader, we waited with baited breath. First out was a chonky black and tan boy, second out was a solid black boy, third out was a solid black boy and then like she'd planned to yell out PUNKED all along, the last puppy out was a healthy little black and tan girl. All have now departed to their forever families and we'll be posting occasional updates of their shenanigans as they grow.

Vader is our sun and stars, our little black shadow, she means the absolute world to us. I hadn't really planned on having a final litter with her, but the more I thought about it, the more I realised that whilst we have some absolutely amazing owners who take wonderful care of our co-owned dogs, at home we had two practically retired dogs. Ryker has been living his old man retirement life for a number of years and Vader, whilst she'd happily keep doing what she's doing forever, at 7.5, she realistically doesn't have many more 'competitive' years left in her. I decided if we were to go again with her, it had to be the the perfect boy.
We were looking for a match that wouldn't impact the diversity we work hard on for every litter, and will still give us some options moving forward, but this time include a few familiar faces in a not so common way. I adore the temperaments Vader has produced in her previous litters, and having some information from her previous kids in the back of my mind, I had a much better idea of where her strengths lay. I love Vader's head, I think its lovely and whilst she has bigger ears, the coat she has blends them in to make them not overly noticeable. She's structurally sound and moves well enough, but I'd hoped to put her to a male with just a smidge more fluidity in his movement, in the hopes we could bring the whole package together.
Arri had been on my shortlist for a while (along with some other semen choices), but he ticked pretty much all the boxes for me. A strong boy, with lovely powerful fluid movement and the most gorgeous nature in the world. His lines have brought strength t0 the table overseas so I tentatively hoped he might do the same for us. We were expecting dogs with a little more sass, because Vader herself is a little crazy when she wants to be, but were super surprised to instead have produced probably the most easy going, chilled, bombproof litter I've had to date. We can't wait to see how these little guys mature and what the future holds for them.

Peralta is the puppy who very nearly stayed and we were very reluctant to let him go. He has THE sweetest most easy going, chilled out bombproof temperament I've produced in a dog. A beautiful mix of both his parents and and just a joy to raise. He'll be making the occasional show ring appearance.

Holt was our confident puppy. Happy to be the center of attention and loved being involved in the rukus. A real sweetheart and people pleaser, always showing us his belly for a scratch. He's going to become the youngest member of a busy family and keep everyone on their toes. He is Vader's little 3.0 clone and may make the occasional appearance in the show ring

Obi (formerly Terry) was so nicknamed for the character Terry Jeffords in B99, as a bit of a joke. Funnily enough, he grew into a rather eclectic little character with quirks like his namesake. He was soft and sweet but also had an hilarious side, which often left us in stitches at his antics. Such a happy pup who will be living it up with his new family on all their adventures in Canberra

Diaz was the single girl in our litter and from day one she was never going anywhere. We tried to resist and find faults or reasons to say no, but she just fobbed them off and we absolutely couldn't resist. Cute as a button and the one catching everyone's eye, she was destined to stay here with us. She'll be joining us in the show and sports rings and will become the next generation of Ehana lappies at home. We finally have our mini Vader <3
